Ricky Hatton on Thursday in an interview posted on its Web site that he is retiring from boxing. The 32-year-old devastating knockout in the second round after suffering from the war is fough to Manny Pacquiao in a May 2009 bout.
Hatton said, "I've had a wonderful career, absolutely loved every minute of it. I think my greatest achievement and my proudest achievement will be the fan base I was always able to generate."
Calling it "the greatest night in his life," Hatton closed the longest reigning title winner in June 2005 for the 12th round of the 140-pound champion Kostya Tsyzu Australia.
Hatton Mayweather Jr. bout 147 pounds in his initial concern with aggression, but after losing in the 10th round after round two of a stop.
Hatton said that under new trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. felt great against Malignaggi but to fight Pacquiao overtrained."Alcohol when you're depressed is a bad combination," he said Thursday.
Hatton said that his excessive drinking as a result suffered blackouts.
"I was losing days on end where my mind was somewhere else and I didn't have a clue what I was doing," Hatton said of the weeks leading up to the newspaper revelation.
